Cruising Sails
Built to last. Designed for your yacht.
Cruising sails are the workhorses of the sailing world. They need to perform reliably in all conditions, from a gentle Caribbean trade wind to a sudden squall off the coast. At 30 Knots, we supply cruising sails built by SudWest Sails: a Dutch sail label from Friesland with decades of experience designing sails that hold their shape, season after season.
Quality Dacron. Crosscut Construction.
Every cruising sail is built in a crosscut construction using Fibercon® AP sailcloth by Contender Sailcloth, one of the most respected names in premium woven fabrics. Fibercon AP is woven from Contender’s own high-tenacity Fibercon® yarn, spun in-house to specifications that generic polyester simply cannot match. The result is a cloth that delivers exceptional UV resistance, outstanding tear strength, and long-term shape retention, exactly what you need when your sails have to perform week after week in the Caribbean sun.
The crosscut layout is the proven choice for coastal and inshore cruising: straightforward to handle, forgiving in a wide range of conditions, and built to last. Available in Natural White, Cool Grey, Black, and Storm Orange (only storm jib).
Sailors venturing offshore or pushing performance will find their match in our higher categories.
No standard sizes. No compromises.
Every sail is designed from scratch by SudWest Sails designer Ramses Landman, tailored to the exact specifications of your yacht, your sailing area, and the way you use your sails.

Medium Polypreg
Optimised for ease of handling. The medium finish keeps the cloth supple and forgiving — ideal for shorthanded cruising where quick furling and easy sail ties matter.
Recommended for cruisingFirm Polypreg
Higher diagonal stability for performance-oriented sails. The firm finish locks the weave tighter, reducing bias stretch under load — the choice when you want flat entry and shape retention upwind.
