Custom Membrane — Bespoke in Every Detail
At the heart of the racing sail programme is a fully custom membrane construction. Panel layouts, fibre orientations, laminate specifications and skin choices are developed from scratch, tailored to the specific demands of the yacht, the class rules, and the sailing programme. This is not a catalogue product, it is a precision instrument.
Every racing sail project is a trajectory that 30 Knots runs in close collaboration with SudWest Sails designer Ramses Landman. From the initial brief to the final delivery, you have direct access to the designer, ensuring that every decision is made with full technical authority and a complete understanding of your goals.
3D-Pura — The Next Generation
On request, 30 Knots offers the latest advancement in sail construction technology: 3D-Pura by SudWest Sails.
3D-Pura is built without Mylar film, a material that, despite its widespread use, is not suitable for high-performance sails due to its susceptibility to UV degradation and delamination. Instead, 3D-Pura uses a zero-Mylar construction method that creates exceptionally durable sails with outstanding resistance to stretch and UV degradation, maintaining their designed shape through harsh conditions and across the full lifespan of the sail.
The structural core of 3D-Pura is a 360° omnidirectional high-strength fibre matrix. Paired with premium structural materials, this interwoven construction resists wear, tear, and multi-directional stress, delivering a sail that outlasts traditional constructions in the most demanding marine environments.
